Most Morocco travel content is written from a desk in another country, recycled from other blogs that recycled it from guidebooks. We started Smart Morocco Travel because we kept meeting travelers in Tangier and Chefchaouen holding advice that was outdated, generic, or just wrong — and because the North, our North, deserved better than being a paragraph in someone’s “Morocco in 10 days” listicle.

Who We Are

We’re a small team rooted in Northern Morocco — the Tangier region is home. We drink our coffee where the guides’ tour buses don’t stop, we cross the Tarifa strait the way you will, we’ve filled out the D16ter form with our own hands, and when we recommend a fish restaurant in M’diq or a riad in the Chefchaouen medina, it’s because we’ve sat at the table and slept in the bed — or because people we trust have. The site operates under Kechner LLC, and every word on it is written and verified by us, not scraped or outsourced.

What We Cover (And What We Don’t)

We only cover Northern Morocco: Tangier, Chefchaouen, Tétouan, Asilah, Akchour, the two coasts, the ferry corridors from Spain — plus Fes, the North’s natural gateway city. That’s it. No Marrakech guides, no Sahara itineraries, no pretending to know places we don’t. Depth over breadth is the whole idea: 38 guides about one region we actually know, instead of 300 about a country nobody can know entirely.

The Honesty Rules We Write By

• We tell you when the famous thing is a mistake. Our Chefchaouen guide says plainly that the day trip everyone sells is the worst way to see the blue city. Our Fes coverage admits Fes isn’t our home turf and sticks to what we’ve verified.
• Real prices, in dirhams, dated. Not “affordable” — numbers: the 60 MAD kasbah ticket, the 10-15 MAD mint tea, the 20-30 MAD porter tip. When prices drift, we update or say “roughly”.
• Named places or nothing. If we can’t stand behind a specific restaurant, riad or viewpoint, we describe how to choose well instead of padding lists with places we’ve never entered.
• The hassle, honestly. We write about the scams, the fake guides and the tannery “tips” — not to scare you, but because knowing the script is what makes them powerless.

How This Site Makes Money (Full Transparency)
