Smart Morocco Travel (“we”, “us”) is operated by Kechner LLC, a Colorado (USA) limited liability company, with our editorial team based in Tangier, Morocco. This policy explains, in plain English, what data we collect on smartmoroccotravel.com, why, and what your rights are. The short version: we collect as little as possible, we never sell your data, and most of what we collect exists to make the site work and to understand what content helps travelers.
1. Data We Collect & Why
Data you give us directly
- Email sign-ups (free guide): when you request our free guide, we collect your email address to deliver the PDF and, if you opt in, to send occasional travel content. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.
- Contact form: your name, email and message — used only to reply to you.
- Purchases (shop): when you buy a digital guide, our store (WooCommerce) collects your name, email and billing country to deliver the product and issue your download links. Payment card details are processed entirely by Stripe — they never touch our servers, and we never see your full card number. Stripe’s own privacy policy applies to payment processing (stripe.com/privacy).
Data collected automatically
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) to understand which guides people read, roughly where visitors come from (country/city level), and how the site performs. This uses cookies and collects device/browser information and truncated technical identifiers. We use this data in aggregate only — we don’t attempt to identify individuals.
- Server & security logs: our hosting provider (Hostinger) and security tools automatically log IP addresses and request data for security, error diagnosis and abuse prevention. Retained briefly and rotated automatically.
- Functional cookies: our caching system (LiteSpeed) and store (WooCommerce — e.g. your cart contents) set cookies strictly needed for the site to function. These carry no advertising profile.
2. Affiliate Links (Full Transparency)
Many of our guides contain affiliate links to services we recommend (car rental, tours, ferries, eSIMs, insurance). If you click one and book, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. When you click an affiliate link, the destination service (for example DiscoverCars, Klook, Airalo, or partners via the Travelpayouts network) may set its own cookies to attribute the booking — that tracking happens on their sites, under their privacy policies. We mark affiliate links and never let commissions dictate our recommendations. We do not run third-party display advertising on this site.
3. Legal Bases (for EU/UK Visitors)
- Contract: processing your order data to deliver purchased guides.
- Consent: email sign-ups, and analytics cookies where consent is required in your region.
- Legitimate interest: security logging, fraud prevention, and aggregate site improvement.
4. Who We Share Data With (and Who We Don’t)
We never sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that make the site run, each bound by their own privacy terms: Hostinger (hosting), Stripe (payments), Google (analytics & email infrastructure), and our email delivery service (for the free guide and receipts). If the law ever requires disclosure, we comply — and that’s the exhaustive list.
5. How Long We Keep Data
- Order records: kept as long as required for accounting and tax obligations.
- Email list: until you unsubscribe (instant) or after prolonged inactivity.
- Contact messages: deleted once your question is resolved, typically within 12 months.
- Analytics: aggregate data retained per Google Analytics’ standard retention settings.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and applicable US state laws), you can: access the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict processing, request portability, and withdraw consent at any time (e.g. unsubscribe). To exercise any of these, use our contact form — we respond to every request, usually within a few days. EU residents also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
7. Cookies in Practice
This site uses: strictly necessary cookies (caching, cart, security — always on, since the site can’t work without them) and analytics cookies (Google Analytics — measurable audience insights). Where your region requires it, a consent banner lets you accept or refuse non-essential cookies; you can also block or delete cookies anytime in your browser settings, and the site will keep working.
8. Children
Our content is written for adult travelers. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16; if you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Transfers
We are a US company with a team in Morocco, using service providers (Google, Stripe, Hostinger) that may process data in the US, the EU and elsewhere, under their standard safeguards (including EU Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable).
10. Changes & Contact
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top — material changes will be flagged on this page. Questions, requests, or anything unclear: reach us via the contact form, or by mail at Kechner LLC, 1500 N Grant St, Ste C, Denver, CO 80203, USA.
